SOCIAL ACTION MURALS - AGES 10-15, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, LIU INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL ACTION INTERNSHIP
THIS DIRECTIVE WAS FACILITATED IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO FOR A SOCIAL ACTION TRIP THROUGH THE LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY AT POST CLINICAL ART THERAPY AND COUNSELING MASTERS PROGRAM. THE GROUP WORKED WITH REFUGEE CHILDREN TO CREATE THREE MURALS REPRESENTING HOME, JOURNEY, AND DREAMS.

DREAMCATCHERS
AGES 15-19, SUNSHINE PREVENTION CENTER, GRADUATE INTERNSHIP
IN THIS DIRECTIVE CLIENTS WERE TESTED WITH A PROBLEM-SOLVING ACTIVITY, AS THEY HAD TO CREATE THE WEB OF A DREAMCATCHER WITHOUT ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO DO SO. THEY WERE THEN GIVEN THE ARTISTIC FREEDOM TO DECORATE AND FILL THEIR DREAMCATCHERS WITH THEIRS HOPES AND DREAMS




TREE OF LIFE - SENIOR CITIZENS, LIU SOCIAL ACTION INTERNSHIP
THIS DIRECTIVE WAS FACILITATED AT A SENIOR LIVING FACILITY. THE ART THERAPIST WORKED WITH VARIOUS SENIOR CITIZENS TO LEARN ABOUT THEIR LIFE STORY AND ASSIST THEM IN CREATING A TREE OF LIFE.
POSITIVITY STONES
AGES 15-19, SUNSHINE PREVENTION CENTER, GRADUATE INTERNSHIP
THIS DIRECTIVE AIMED TO SPREAD POSITIVITY AMONG A GROUP OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ATTENDING SUNSHINE PREVENTION CENTERS ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM. EACH STUDENT MADE STONES THAT INCORPORATED A POSITIVE MESSAGE OR QUOTE.
