My high school art teacher became my inspiration the day I met her. When I think of the ideal teaching style, I think of her and how she constantly challenged me and pushed me past my comfort levels. In my opinion, a general art curriculum should include a large amount of art creation and art critiques as well as lessons on art history, self-expression, creative thinking, and the correlation of art and other core subjects. Educators in general are there to help students learn new information, and understand concepts that will help them throughout their lives. With an open-ended teaching approach, an emphasis on individual interests and relevant topics, and differentiated instruction for all learners, I hope to inspire my own students to discover their creativity, and produce artwork they can be proud of in a safe and welcoming environment.
