I created this series for an Advanced Drawing art exhibit at the University of Vermont. Our prompt was to create a series of portraits that speaks to who you are as a person. As I looked around at my classmates, I noticed that everyone was diving in to very heavy topics, and at the time I was not yet ready to visualize my anxiety, depression, and other difficult experiences. I thought about who I am and decided I wanted to create a series that incorporates my friends and the people that support me. Additionally, I wanted to lighten the mood, and add humor to each of my pieces. My roommates helped me come up with the idea to press our faces up against glass and draw it using colored pencil. I drew three of my four roommates and a self portrait to achieve this goal. Looking back I would have loved to incorporate more of my friends and family, which may be something I revisit in the future.
