This diptych was created for my Advanced Drawing class at the University of Vermont. Our only instruction was to create two observational drawings in our home environment. I chose to draw three of my roommates sleeping, and I did so monochromatically. This was a difficult task because I needed to get a quick and accurate sketch of these scenes before anyone moved or woke up. I did this by creating a loose sketch in pencil of the scene, and then adding in as many details as I could before movement occurred.  I then went back in with a single colored pencil to add as much detail as I could. The reason I thought this would be an interesting subject is because it represents not only the everyday experience of a typical college student, but also the amount of exhaustion getting a degree can cause.
